About Us

The Hop Shed is about bringing great ingredients together and bringing people together through our fine ales. There are currently five permanent staff at The Hop Shed, supported by an enthusiastic group who help us on an ad-hoc basis.

 

 

Sarah is the Brewer who has created the recipes for our popular range of beers and is continually experimenting with different local hops to produce exciting new beers. Sarah began brewing at home and then undertook formal training at Brew Lab in Sunderland. She then completed work experience at a handful of breweries where she could see how others put the theory into practice. Before becoming a brewer, Sarah was a teacher and also an educational consultant, leading training for teachers and supporting failing schools.

 

 

Hani uses his valuable management experience gained at the heart of the Financial Services industry in London, and also during 11 years working in third party logistics, to provide strategic direction and operational support to the business. He enjoys getting involved in the process to create new beers and will always provide constructive criticism on the latest brews.

 

 

Paul is the Hop Shed's Sales Manager and since joining has been hard at work selling our beer, developing relationships with our existing customers and introducing new customers to our tasty beers. Paul loves a pint or two of dark ale and still can't believe how our Phoenix Porter is so easy to drink! When not working Paul enjoys stand up comedy, watching his children play sport and walking with his partner in the fabulous countryside around us.

 

 

 

Mike is the Brewery Assistant and Drayman. He has a love for all things real ale related and is a particular fan of our Phoenix Porter. An incredibly hard worker, with an eye for detail, he ensures our brewing vessels are spotlessly clean after each brew and also takes pride in keeping the brass sparkling on our Tap Room hand pumps!

 

 

 

 

Bryan has been working with the brewery since the early days when we hand bottled our beers (1,600 in a day!) and he loves the ‘proper’ beers we create. His current role focuses on brewery and accounts administration.
